Sketchnotes for Intro to Oxidation

So most people start at the beginning. I didn’t and started with the SCD1 Theory of Obesity… but I’m starting again from the first blog series that Brad wrote on Fire in a Bottle marked with “Start Here”. It was the Introduction to Oxidation series.

Today I did a Sketchnote that covers the whole blog series which is btw already nicely summarised on the Fire in a Bottle site:

I hope Brad sees this and sees the “Life in a Bottle” title 🙂

The summary is in the link above but my key takeaways are:

  • Oxidation happens when a molecule loses an electron (and when a molecule gains an electron it’s known as being Reduced).
  • Oxygen molecules want electrons. ⚡
  • Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) is an enzyme and that alongside glutathione and Catalase creates water and oxygen from Superoxides via Peroxide. 🤓
  • Antioxidants aren’t as great as we have been lead to believe! In studies it seems to show it shortens life and can eliminate the benefits of exercise! 😲
