TCD – Something is happening…

I’ve written in my introductory page how and why I’m doing The Croissant Diet (TCD) and how I feel that it should be working. I wanted to elaborate on it as it does seem weird how there are many of us based on some Reddit threads I’ve seen that there is no weight loss and yet we are all clinging onto TCD principles.

For me it’s been an overall feeling that my body seems more svelte. It’s not like there has been much in the way of inches lost or even centimetres lost! My jeans do feel looser but it’s not even just in the waist but all through the jeans legs too. But the skin on my neck and face seem ‘better’. Can I tell in the mirror? No not really. But I feel it. Could it be just me tricking myself? Maybe!

The other day my hand brushed my side/waist and I remember thinking – it felt tighter. My face also feels less fatty and puffy. Not that it’s been that bad since I’ve lost some face fat from doing keto and carnivore too.

The weight side of things is hard though. I’ve been on a mini roller coaster. I’ve looked at the graph on my scale and it’s been up and down all year. Carnivore helped drop it but then it crept up even on carnivore… and then it’s been incrementally coming down again ever so slowly on TCD. But not down to the level it was the first time I did carnivore.

Also the other good news is that I’m not gaining weight by eating some chocolate, croissants (maybe a few more of these than is warranted!), sourdough bread and ice cream. Nor do I feel the brain fog or ‘yuck’ digestive bloat from eating real carbs.

I have tried pasta and pizza and that’s a no go zone for me (bloating!) and so I’m sticking to low-ish carbs with TCD.

I wish I could find a magical “face gains” or body composition photo but even I can’t tell if there is anything by looking at my photos… I can only go by what I feel. I have to believe that either my iron will magically increase and I’ll drop the weight OR my fat will somehow become more saturated and the weight will “burn” off through the “good” cycle of the SCD1 theory of obesity.

I’m also thinking the Berberine experiment is helping lose fat too (Berberine is an SCD1 Inhibitor). It’s since I’ve introduced that I’ve seemed to be stablising and downward trending my weight AND my blood glucose is down too. I’ve also been doing some pu’erh and longevity tea which seems to be keeping it down too.

In case you are wondering where the pic was taken for the featured image it’s a croissant from the cafe Reuben Hills in Surry Hills. It’s the best croissant I’ve had in the last little while.. but I keep not doing back to back tests to work out the range of great/good/ok croissants.

Hi Yvonne, Just discovered your great blog, keep it up. Like your carnivore experience I lost weight on keto when I first tried it and then after a while it stalled and then slowly rose. I didn’t feel like the restrictions are worth the outcome for me. I haven’t tried TCD full-on, but am doing low-ish carb (like the old primal), sat fat and focusing on cutting out PUFA.

Was wondering how much berberine you’re taking and which brand (and where you get it from). I’m also in Aus so the same sources are likely to work.

Hi Meg!
I was using Berberine by Paradise Herbs. I just bought it from iherb – https://www.iherb.com/pr/Paradise-Herbs-Berberine-180-Vegetarian-Capsules/100512

But I have since been off it due to getting health coaching and being advised to stop it… Not sure if it’s been good or bad to stop it but am always happy to try different things. I do think it was doing something (positive!) btw I started CLA and stopped it… as it didn’t seem to do anything for me.
